Pumped up Pilates and peanut butter!!
Pumped up Pilates and peanut butter!!
I interrupt my homage to New York City with an important announcement. Amy does it sugar-free is not a diet blog. Last week, a commercial director who will go unnamed dissed me by saying he wouldn’t read my blog because he hates diet diatribes. ( I added the diatribe comment). His own words were not very interesting. My point here is that my blog is more like “Coffee Talk” ala Mike Myers in his famous SNL sketch than a Fitness Magazine article. I absolutely believe in a sugar-free regime with exercise and portion control, but that’s only a part of my story. My blog is an opinion editorial about everything I encounter in my life. It is the amusing retelling of my journeys and general observations that encompass much more than what to eat. Amy does it sugar-free is actually Amy tells it sugar- free!!
My newest accomplishment is the SPX workout at the Studio MDR on Washington in Marina del Rey. It takes Pilates to the next level based on Sebastien Lagree’s using the strength-based foundation of Pilates and seamlessly mixing in intense muscle endurance and cardio training. It is officially called SPX/System Dynamique. Instead of a reformer, one works on a megaformer. In short, it ain’t yo mama’s Pilates!!
Ky Evans is the motivating power source at the Studio MDR. He is an amazing fitness expert in his own right. He is adorable, hysterically funny and makes the grueling workout a joy and a pleasure. All of the teachers are fabulous, each bringing their own music and spin on the workout. Lisa Hirsch manages the entire operation flawlessly. The studio has room for 9 participants so booking in advance is essential. This workout has kicked my ass and the results are incredible. It has made a difference in my body after only 6 classes. I love it!!
In order to be able to do this workout I eat a “hardcore” sugar-free breakfast before I drive to the Marina. Here is my recipe for Oat bran, peanut butter and almond milk.
I use Mother’s Oat Bran which is sugar-free. I follow the directions using unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze instead of water. I add 2 Tbs of organic unsalted peanut butter and 1 packet of Stevia. I nuke my concoction for 3 minutes in a large micro-waveable bowl.. Of course, cooking on the stovetop is easily done. I don’t like to clean up more than I have to, therefore I eschew the extra pan. I stir everything thoroughly and the result is delicious and hearty. I am now ready to conquer the world.
Back to talking about my New York City adventure next time. Peace, love and happiness to you all!
